Gideon Defoe is the author of 'The Pirates!' book series, and wrote the screenplay for the Oscar-nominated Aardman film The Pirates in an Adventure with Scientists. He studied archaeology and anthropology, worked in several bars, a library, answered David Blunkett’s mail, wrote a book about how animals have sex, a computer game tie-in novel, and a history of extinct countries, because he is bad at staying on brand.
