James joined Locksmith Animation in 2025 as the IT Support Engineer (Trainee) for Bad Fairies. Before this, he spent six years working as the Animation Technician for the BA Animation course at Middlesex University London, helping to shape new creatives in the world of 2D, 3D, and stop-motion animation.

James has also explored freelance work as a 2D clean-up artist, animator, and director. He began his freelance career at The Brewery VFX as a runner and worked on projects such as a Gucci Christmas advert, rotoscoping various animals, and a stop-motion project for BOOTS created entirely out of make-up. Alongside his work at Middlesex, James and his friends established a small collective called "Space Ducks," focusing primarily on animated music videos. They have created videos for artists such as Miles Davis, Sean Paul, Foster the People, ILoveMakonnen, and, most recently, an advert for Epiphone featuring their new Jimi Hendrix guitar.

When James isn’t working, you’ll find him gaming with friends, watching Adventure Time or SpongeBob SquarePants, and attending horror conventions with his partner. He also loves mixed martial arts, which he trains in several times a week, and enjoys looking after a small, elderly Jack Russell named Eddie.
