Mary Coleman

CCO

Mary Coleman joined Locksmith from Pixar Animation Studios, where she was Head of Creative Development for 23 years in 2022. Pixar Co-founder Ed Catmull brought her in to help create the studio’s development department. Mary worked closely with Pixar’s directors from original concept through final draft, supporting their vision. She was the first woman to participate on Pixar's Brain Trust, providing creative feedback on all films in production. She is known for finding rising star talent and launching screenwriting careers. During her tenure, Pixar created a legacy of modern classics including Monsters, Inc, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles (1 and 2,) Cars, Ratatouille, WALL-E, Up, Toy Story (2-4), Brave, Inside Out, Finding Dory, Coco, Onward, Soul, Luca, and Turning Red.

Prior to Pixar, Mary was the Associate Artistic director of San Francisco’s renowned Magic Theatre, where she developed new plays and directed world premieres of new plays.

Mary was drawn to Locksmith because between Julie Lockhart’s two decades at Aardman, Natalie Fischer having helped launched Illumination, and her two decades at Pixar, she wanted to be part of a leadership team that knows how to create compelling entertainment for families around the world.
