Patrick Hanenberger

Production Designer, The Lunar Chronicles

Patrick is the Production Designer on The Lunar Chronicles. Prior to joining the Lunar Crew, Patrick was the Production Designer on Paul McCartney's "High in the Clouds", produced by Gaumont and a Concept Artist on "Star Trek: Prodigy", produced by Nickelodeon.

During his college studies, Patrick fell in love with Feature Animation while completing an internship at Pixar Animation Studios where he had the chance to briefly work on "The Incredibles". Nine years later Patrick was the Production Designer for the award-winning DreamWorks film, "Rise of the Guardians".

Prior to production designing he worked as a Visual Development Artist on titles such as "The Croods", "Monsters vs. Aliens" and "Over the Hedge".

In addition to working in feature animation he collaborated as a concept artist on live action features such as "2012", "10,000BC", and "Gulliver's travels". Eager to learn about real time rendering workflows Patrick joined the renown game studio Crytek in 2012, working as the Visual Consultant on the "Xbox One" release title "Ryse Son of Rome" and as the Art Director of the “Ryse” franchise. After helping out in the following years on several development projects for Reel FX ("Wish Police") and Warner Bros ("Smallfoot") Patrick production designed the “Lego Movie 2 - The second part”.

In 2019 Patrick dove heavily into Virtual Reality design and designed an unreleased VR open world game for Penrose Studios as well as the first fully virtual, avatar-based design class for the Art Center College of Design.

In addition to working as a production designer, Patrick is the co-founder of the boutique design studio "The Neuland" whose clients include companies like Google, Illumination and Legendary Pictures. "The Neuland" is based in Los Angeles, California. Patrick graduated magna cum laude from the University of Michigan with a B.A. In Industrial Design and with honours from the Art Center College of Design with a B.S. in Transportation Design.
